Sooka enters Malaysia Book of Records through ‘Gilerrr Streaming Challenge’
KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s leading streaming service, sooka, created history when it received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records when the sooka Gilerrr Streaming Challenge event achieved the category of Most Participants in the Multitasking Streaming Challenge.
In a statement, Sooka announced that the event, which brought together 273 participants, was also the launch platform for Sooka Shorts, a new microdrama offering that will be available to audiences starting this December.
Sooka explained that this large-scale participation reflects the energetic passion of Malaysians towards entertainment and sports. It also marks the first major event hosted by Sooka, demonstrating the platform’s closeness to local audiences.
The event also highlighted how streaming has now become part of many consumers’ lifestyles and entertainment obsessions.
The program was also attended by Dewi Remaja finalists, Jaguh Rakan Muda participants, 12 Astro Star Quest finalists, the cast of Astro Originals and artists such as Uriah See, ALPHA, Qasrina Karim, Mierul Aiman and Khai Bahar.
Also enlivening the challenge were sooka brand ambassadors Evertts Gomes, Aiman Ameer, Wani Kayrie and Kimberly Chuah who interacted with the participants and fans.
The challenge begins with “sooka Says”, which requires participants to follow quick instructions without taking their focus off the screen.
This was followed by a round of “Pontianak” themed distractions filled with elements of surprise and humor.
Next, participants were tested through a ‘freeze’ challenge which required them to maintain a certain position while continuing to stream.
The final test required coordination when participants were asked to balance a can of water on their hands while continuing to watch. The event concluded with a prize presentation session, where the grand winner took home a Proton e.MAS 5.
Other participants also received rewards such as Samsung QLED 85 inches, iPhone 17 Pro Max, MacBook Air, PlayStation 5 Pro, DJI Pocket 3, Dyson and a JD gift card worth RM1,000.
Sooka also introduced sooka Shorts, a new microdrama offering that features compact and concise stories for short viewing.
At the event, Sooka gave an exclusive preview of the content which was developed in line with the global trend of mini dramas which are becoming increasingly popular.
With the new launch, the platform is confident that it can strengthen its position as a leader in local microdrama content and offer greater viewing flexibility to users.
