Sarawak’s Young Singing Star Taylor Louise Fong Wins Top Honours in Paris International Music Competition
KUCHING, Oct 27 — Sarawak’s rising vocal talent, Taylor Louise Fong, has once again brought pride to Malaysia after clinching First Prize and the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize at the 2025 International Music Competition Paris ‘Grand Prize Virtuoso.’
The 11-year-old from Kuching has also been invited to perform live at The Studio of the Opéra Bastille in Paris, France, on December 12 — one of Europe’s most prestigious opera venues, The Borneo Post reported.
In an email confirming the results, the competition organisers congratulated Fong’s parents and vocal coach for the outstanding quality of her performance. Competing in the Pop and Musical Theatre Junior (9–12 years old) category, Fong’s win marks another milestone in her already impressive musical journey.
Earlier this year, Fong made history as the first young East Malaysian to perform at the Britten Theatre, Royal College of Music in London, where she represented Malaysia at the ASAF Winner Showcase in both Pop and Musical Theatre.

Under the mentorship of Golden Kenyalang Award-winning choral conductor Sabrina Tnay, Fong has achieved numerous accolades, including Gold and Division Champion at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, Double Champion at the Asia Students Art Festival in Singapore and Hong Kong, and a Special Mention at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy, where she ranked among the Top 5 globally.
In August, she also showcased her acting and singing talent as Rayna in Tanoti’s Dreamweaver musical theatre production at KLPAC, Kuala Lumpur — becoming the youngest member of the cast.
Reflecting on her latest international recognition, Taylor expressed deep gratitude.
“I really don’t know how to put it into words, but I want to thank my Lord first before everything else. I’m so grateful for the chance to share my music with the world,” she said.
Her mother, Jacqueline Chang, credited Taylor’s success to her faith and dedication.
“It’s truly a blessing to see how far she’s come. We thank God, her teacher, and everyone who continues to believe in her journey,” she said.
Taylor will now focus on preparing for her Paris performance in December, proudly representing Sarawak and Malaysia on the international stage once again.
