Sabah Election: Nine-Corner Showdown Set for N22 Tanjung Aru
PUTATAN – – There will be a multi-cornered fight in N22 Tanjung Aru, setting the stage for an intense and highly competitive electoral contest.
Earlier today at Dewan Sri Putatan, the Election Commission’s Returning Officer Masawi Haji Salleh officially announced the full list of candidates contesting in DUN N22 Tanjung Aru around 11.45 am marking the formal start of a closely watched and highly anticipated contest.
The nine candidates are as follows:
Datuk Chan Foong Hin from Pakatan Harapan, Datuk Wong Hong Jun ( Junz Wong ) from Warisan, Suhaimi Bin Buang of Perikatan Nasional, Yee Wee Ping of Parti Impian Sabah, Wong Cheng Chee of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri, Dennison R Indang of UPKO, Mohamed Zaim Bin Ansawi as Independent candidate, Hiew Choon Yu of STAR, and Datuk Lot Ee Eng of Parti Bumi Kenyalang.
With the incumbent bringing previous ministerial experience and the other challengers stepping forward with strong credentials, the stage is now set for a spirited and competitive fight in the constituency.
Dennison R. Indang, the UPKO candidate for N22 Tanjung Aru, enters the race with strong party credentials as UPKO’s Treasurer-General and the Kota Kinabalu Division Chief.
His candidacy positions him as a formidable challenger, ready to give a strong fight against the incumbent, Junz Wong of Parti Warisan. With his leadership experience and deep roots in the community, Dennison is set to bring a competitive edge to this contest.
UPKO has been a strong advocate of the Sabah First agenda, consistently pushing for Sabah-based local parties to take the lead in key constituencies.

This approach reflects the party’s commitment to empowering local leadership, strengthening state representation, and ensuring that Sabah’s interests are championed by those who understand its needs best.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan has also fielded a strong candidate, Chan Foong Hin bringing added weight to the contest.
Their chosen representative is the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament, who currently serves in the Madani government as the Deputy Minister for Plantations and Commodities.
His national-level experience and active role in the federal administration could also further elevate the competitiveness of the race in DUN N22 Tanjung Aru.
In the last state election, Junz Wong of Parti Warisan secured a decisive victory with a majority of 3,147 votes, outperforming seven other candidates in the contest.
He garnered a total of 4,125 votes.
The polling date for N22 Tanjung Aru is set for November 29, giving candidates nearly two weeks of campaigning to connect with voters and present their vision for the constituency.
