RM1.1 Million Allocated for Infrastructure and School Development in Kampung Kiau, Kota Belud
KOTA BELUD, 10 August — The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has allocated RM1.1 million for the development of Kampung Kiau under the Kampung Angkat Madani and Sekolah Angkat Madani initiatives, aimed at improving infrastructure and education in the area, reported Borneo Post Online.
KUSKOP Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick announced that RM1 million will be used for seven small-scale infrastructure projects across three villages — Kampung Kiau Nuluh, Kampung Kiau Taburi, and Kampung Kiau Bersatu — while RM100,000 has been channelled to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kiau.
Among the projects implemented are:
- Upgrading the field road, community hall, clinic, and village hall in Kampung Kiau Nuluh
- Drain construction in Zones Tebobon and Hongkung
- Road and culvert construction to the cemetery in Kampung Kiau Taburi
- Building of a community road and drainage system in Zone Tomoduh, Kampung Kiau Bersatu
Ewon officiated the projects during the Tourism Development Programme Through the Cooperative Movement, held at Dewan Tamu Desa Kg Kiau.
As part of the Sekolah Angkat Madani initiative, RM100,000 was allocated to SK Kiau’s PIBG to support school development.
“SK Kiau is my adopted school — it’s where I studied from Year 1 to Year 6. I hope this allocation helps address some of the development needs in the village, especially at the school,” said Ewon.
He also encouraged villagers to utilise the area’s natural resources, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and cooperatives, to enhance local socio-economic development.
The event was also attended by KUSKOP Secretary-General Datuk Sri Khairul Dzaimee Daud, Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) CEO Noor Affifah Abdul Razak, along with KUSKOP agency heads and local community leaders.
