PRU Sabah: BN to Field Candidate in Pintasan
KOTA BELUD, Oct 28 — Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest the Pintasan state constituency in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election, announced Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin, Borneo Post reported.
He announced a ‘Kenduri Sekampung’ event held at Kampung Nanamun here last night, organised by ABM Sabah Region Chief Executive Officer Tadzul Radim.
Bung Moktar said that while all the proposed BN candidates are qualified, the party will ultimately choose only those who are considered most “winnable” and accepted by the people.
“Every proposed candidate has their own strengths and qualifications, but we will select the best — someone who can win and truly represent the people’s voice,” he said.
“I urge all BN machinery to stay united and avoid any form of division.”
Meanwhile, Kampung Pintasan resident Muhammad Nur Fikri Halim Thakdim expressed hope that the chosen candidate would prioritise local development.
“We in Pintasan just want a representative who genuinely goes to the ground and helps develop our village,” he said.
Another local, Jamlan Makuntang, said he hoped the next assemblyman would focus on boosting tourism and agriculture in the area.
“We want to see more attention given to tourism and farming opportunities here,” he added.
The incumbent for Pintasan, Datuk Fairuz Renddan, currently serves as Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Youth Chief. He won the seat in the 2020 state election under Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with a majority of 84 votes.
In that six-cornered contest, Fairuz secured 2,744 votes, defeating Pandikar Amin Mulia (Usno Baru, 2,660 votes), Mohd Safian Saludin (Warisan, 1,816), Almudin Kaida (Independent, 780), Padlan Samad (Parti Cinta Sabah, 188), and Roslan Mayahman (Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah, 50).
