PETALING JAYA: National car manufacturer Proton Holdings Bhd expects the newly launched Proton Saga MC3 model to be the leading A-segment model in the ASEAN market next year.
Its CEO Dr Li Chunrong said MC3 has received more than 30,000 bookings since its launch last week.
Commenting on Proton’s electric vehicle (EV) series, he said the e.MAS 7 had become the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia in 2025 after its launch in June 2024, with 8,239 units sold as of November 2025.
“The Proton e.MAS 5 became the first affordable EV in Malaysia, receiving more than 10,000 bookings in a short time.
“e.MAS is a key focus in Proton’s EV roadmap. We believe this brand will soon become the number one EV brand in Malaysia,” said Li when speaking at the launch of the Proton Technology Showcase here today.
The exhibition provides visitors with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the technology that powers Proton models.
The group said in a statement today that the exhibition brings together the company’s most important engineering achievements under one roof, providing exclusive access to take a closer look at the latest innovations in electrification, power grid development and smart connectivity.
“Among the main attractions on display are Proton’s global modular architecture (GMA) platform, Short Blade batteries and the latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) engine and transmission, as well as a smart connectivity exhibition by Aco Tech Sdn Bhd which includes augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
“Proton’s latest model lineup such as the Proton X50, Proton e.MAS 5 and the all-new Proton Saga will also be on display, along with a model that will make its first public appearance before its launch in early 2026,” he said.
