Iconic Todak and other roundabouts in KK to be upgraded
KOTA KINABALU (March 3): The Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) has announced that landscape upgrade works will be carried out at several roundabouts in the city center.
In a statement on Sunday, a DBKK spokesperson revealed that the improvements will take place from February 21 to April 17 at the Todak and Bunga Raya roundabouts along Jalan Fuad Stephens, as well as the Bangau roundabout along Jalan Tugu.
A DBKK liaison staff, when contacted by The Borneo Post, shared that the iconic Todak roundabout will undergo significant changes. The existing marlin fish sculpture, which has suffered extensive external damage over time, will be replaced with a larger and more visually appealing marlin sculpture. Additionally, shrubs and uplights will be installed to enhance the roundabout’s aesthetic appeal. Located at the heart of the city, the Todak roundabout has long been a popular photo spot for both tourists and locals.
Recent social media posts showing the removal of the marlin replica by a truck have sparked public interest.
DBKK has urged the public to exercise caution when passing through the affected roundabouts and to adhere to warning signs for safety and smooth traffic flow during the upgrade period.
