GRS will govern Sabah again, reiterates Hajiji

RANAU (25 Feb): Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has reaffirmed his confidence that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will secure a fresh mandate and continue governing the state after the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17).

Speaking at the Sayangi Sabah Tour Zone 4 Ranau on Tuesday, Hajiji dismissed opposition criticisms of his statement, calling them mere political rhetoric.

“Some leaders twist our words when we talk about returning the mandate to the people. They play with narratives, distorting our message.

“When we say that the current government has delivered significant achievements and deserves another mandate in the upcoming election, we say it with confidence, because we believe we will govern Sabah once again after PRN,” he said.

Hajiji also hit back at critics who claimed his administration had failed.

“We are not weak. Some accuse us of failure, but the reality is, this government has not failed. Those making such accusations are the real failures,” he added.

The event was attended by senior GRS leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister cum Kundasang assemblyman Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Finance Minister cum Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister cum Paginatan assemblyman Datuk Abidin Madingkir.

As GRS chairman, Hajiji emphasized that voters must not repeat past mistakes that led to political instability in Sabah.

“We must learn from our past. We need unity. There must be no internal sponsorships or factionalism within Ranau. I do not want to hear about it.

“If any GRS member sponsors another candidate, we will not accept it. As GRS chairman, I make it clear that this must not happen,” he stressed.

He urged party members and supporters to remain politically strategic and avoid divisions.

“We have been divided and manipulated for too long. Let’s not squander this opportunity. Many political parties are now observing GRS’s strength. Let’s prove that GRS is the people’s choice in Sabah.

“This is a golden opportunity for the people of Sabah to reaffirm their support for a coalition that has delivered,” he added.

Hajiji reiterated that PRN17 would be a crucial test to show that GRS remains the best choice for the people of Sabah.
“GRS is not just any coalition. We have governed for four years and achieved significant progress.

“But critics continue to spread baseless claims about GRS because they refuse to acknowledge our successes.

“Some leaders from outside Sabah suddenly claim they want to ‘fix’ the state. But what do they really know? They come from outside, talk big and offer nothing substantial,” he said.

Addressing GRS’s position in Ranau, Hajiji expressed confidence that the coalition would retain all three state seats namely Kundasang, Karanaan and Paginatan in the upcoming election.

“I urge the people of Ranau, whom I know well and deeply respect, to ensure that these three seats remain under GRS after PRN,” he stated.

During the event, Hajiji announced several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving the district’s development including RM350,000 for the reconstruction of the suspension bridge in Kampung Lingkudau which was damaged by strong currents, RM1 million to expand the Pentas Terbuka Pekan Kundasang and RM6 million for the construction of the Kundasang multipurpose hall.

Additionally, 1,143 native land grants covering 4,177.354 acres were handed over to villagers from the Kundasang, Paginatan and Karanaan constituencies, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to land ownership rights for the people.
