Govt plans to set up industrial park in Kudat – Hajiji

KUDAT (Aug 24): The State Government plans to set up a new industrial park in Kudat to bring development to the area, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

He said that the establishment of an industrial park in Kudat is appropriate because the district has various existing facilities, including deep seas and ports, as well as a strategic location near countries such as China, Korea and Japan.

“Therefore, it is crucial that we bring development to this district with the construction of an industrial park, which will undoubtedly benefit the residents and the district,” he said when presenting 444 native land titles covering a total area of 1,130.09 hectares to residents from three state constituencies in Kudat on Saturday.

“An area of approximately 5,000 acres is needed, and the specific area has already been identified.

Therefore, we need cooperation from representatives, Members of Parliament, and residents who may be affected by the land.

“Our concept is not to take the land, but to involve the people who own land in the identified area.

However, we will discuss this further with the Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship of the state and the Members of Parliament from this district,” he said, adding that the proposal also needs to be thoroughly reviewed first.

The Chief Minister presented the titles during the launch of the Bakti Madani Kudat 2024 Program at Dataran Tomborungus in Kudat.

“With the handing over of these land titles, the government hopes to improve the living standards of the people and allow them to develop the land for a brighter future.

“Today’s handing over of native land titles follows several similar handovers that have taken place in Pitas and Pintasan, Kota Belud. This reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the rights and interests of the people are always prioritized. This responsibility is undertaken with full dedication to ensure the well-being and socio-economic stability of the people,” he said.

The land titles awarded include 353 for Matunggung, 55 for Tanjong Kapor and 36 for Banggi.

On the event, Hajiji said the Bakti Madani Kudat 2024 Program is a very relevant approach to further expanding the understanding of the Malaysia Madani concept and the Sabah Maju Jaya halatuju to the grassroots level.

“All these government efforts, especially through the Sabah Maju Jaya halatuju agenda, are now on the right track, which has and will continue to provide more job opportunities, thereby improving the people’s living standards.

“Today’s program is an excellent initiative to engage with the people, with various services from state and federal government agencies, GLC companies, private companies, and NGOs provided through their respective exhibition booths.

“Therefore, I hope this program will be extended to other districts so that more grassroots people can benefit from it. We will continue to strive to build a sustainable and inclusive economy, including promoting investment in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture and industry, as well as new economies in the state, namely the Blue Economy,” he said.
