From Shah Alam to Chennai, Yaadana makes history by participating in the Zee Tamil Junior mega audition
KUALA LUMPUR: Shah Alam-born Yaadana Navaneethan made sweet history when she was selected to participate in the mega audition for the singing competition, Zee Tamil Junior in Chennai, India, a prestigious platform that produces new talent.
Zee Tamil Junior is not just a singing competition, but rather a dream stage for many that paves the way for them to break into the professional music industry.
Even more impressive, the 14-year-old teenager was the only participant not only from Malaysia, but also from Singapore.
The participation proves that young talent from Malaysia is no less great but is able to stand out and compete on par with peers from other countries.
During the selection session, Yaadana managed to captivate the attention of the jury, including famous singers Saindhavi, Srinivas and Shweta Mohan, with the song Adiye Adiye from the film Kadal (2012).
In their comments, the judges praised Yaadana’s performance, which they described as not only neat in terms of vocal technique, but also full of emotion, an advantage rarely possessed by singers of her age.
Without a formal singing background, her ability to stand confidently in front of experienced musical figures on the international stage was not an easy feat, but rather required extraordinary courage.
Meanwhile, Yaadana described the success of passing the screening stage as the most meaningful moment in his life. “I have participated in this competition several times before but only managed to get past the initial round, but this time I am really determined.
“I practiced almost every day, non-stop, and finally managed to pass all the screening stages until I qualified for the mega audition ,” he told Astro AWANI here, on Saturday.
According to Yaadana, this year is his last chance due to the age limit of 14, which has motivated him to train hard.
According to the teenager, his interest in singing began at the age of two, but after participating in the Thirumurai competition at the school level, his inclination towards the field deepened and developed.
Since then, he has actively participated in various singing competitions and has achieved several proud achievements, including winning the national-level Thirumurai Competition.
Apart from Tamil songs, Yaadana is also skilled at singing Malay and English songs.
He has also appeared as a finalist on RTM’s Bintang Kecil and Kids Got Talent Malaysia, in addition to making history as the youngest participant in the All Together Malaysia Now program on Astro Ria.
Commenting on family support, Yaadana said his father was his main source of strength and always gave him encouragement.
“My father worked much harder than I did, including taking me to singing competitions and workshops,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yaadana hopes that his artistic journey can inspire young local talents to not give up easily even when faced with failure.
