Francis Chong appointed as Penampang Municipal Council president
KOTA KINABALU (July 23): Francis Chong Yu Shing has been appointed as the president of the Penampang Municipal Council (MPP).
Deputy Chief Minister II cum Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam handed over the certificate of appointment at Wisma Innoprise here on Tuesday.
Chong will begin service on August 1.
Chong, 59, has extensive experience of 37 years in the public service sector. Before becoming the Penampang District Officer, he held the position of Assistant District Officer (Development) at the Kudat District Office and Assistant Matunggong Sub-District Officer.
In a press release, Joachim hoped that Chong together with the Penampang Municipal Council (MPP) would provide the best services to the community in Penampang.
Joachim also stated that the MPP received strong support from the ministry.
The MPP is expected to be launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor in October this year.
Also receiving the letter of appointment were the deputy president, Noemi Deyna Johntren; secretary, Robert Malangkig and deputy secretary, Andresia A. Lojingau.
Also present at the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Sabah Housing, Datuk Dr Jamili Nais; Deputy Permanent Secretary I, Stanley Chong; Deputy Permanent Secretary II, Faridah Giau; and Under Secretary (Development), Johnny Samson.
