BN Refuses to Be Drawn into Political Statements – Zambry
TAWAU, June 15 – Barisan Nasional (BN) has firmly stated that the coalition will not be dragged into any political statements made by other parties regarding political cooperation in Sabah, especially those involving Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan (PH), if BN is not involved.
BN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, emphasized that the priority now is to preserve political stability in the state, rather than engaging in a back-and-forth of public statements that could confuse the people.
“BN will not issue such statements because the most important thing is for Barisan Nasional to remain focused. As previously announced, Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan will work together,” he said.
He added that BN does not wish to get entangled in a political culture of trading statements, as it is not part of the coalition’s approach.
“We will not make such statements because what is most important is Barisan Nasional itself. And as stated earlier, BN and PH will stand together. This does not mean we are closing the door to other forms of cooperation, because the foundation of any cooperation must be built on mutual understanding.
“For now, we do not want to be drawn into the various remarks made by different parties. What matters most is a clear and solid decision, to ensure that Sabah’s political landscape remains stable. I will not take the reactive approach – if someone says something, we respond. That is not Barisan Nasional’s way,” Zambry explained.
Zambry, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, made these remarks during a UMNO Sabah Zone Six Leaders’ Gathering held at the UMNO Kalabakan Office last night.
Previously, GRS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun hinted at the possibility of a GRS-PH alliance for the upcoming Sabah state election, potentially without BN’s involvement.
