BN Aims to Contest at Least One State Seat in Every Sabah Parliamentary Constituency – Mohamad Hassan

MEMBAKUT, Aug 3 – Barisan Nasional (BN) plans to contest at least one state seat in each of the 25 parliamentary constituencies across Sabah in the upcoming 17th General Election, said BN Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan.

The UMNO Deputy President said the move is part of BN’s strategy to ensure the coalition has a presence throughout Sabah’s 73 state constituencies.

However, he noted that the proposal is still under discussion and has not yet been finalised. Further deliberations will take place with BN component parties including PBRS, UMNO, MCA, and MIC, according to Bernama.

“We want to avoid a repeat of the previous election, where some parliamentary areas had no BN representation. That situation led to frustration and disillusionment among our grassroots supporters, and some even left the party,” he said during the launch of the Kimanis UMNO Division on Friday.

Mohamad emphasised the importance of a united and comprehensive approach to contesting seats, to maintain supporter confidence and strengthen the party’s presence in Sabah.
