Amanah Ready to Contest Sulabayan Seat in Sabah State Election
KOTA BHARU, – Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has expressed its readiness to contest the Sulabayan state seat in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN) if given the mandate by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Its Secretary-General, Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, said the seat allocation discussions among PH component parties are still ongoing.
“As of today, Amanah has been linked with the Sulabayan seat, and we find it quite relevant for our party.
“This is because the majority of residents in the area are Muslims, which aligns with Amanah’s core principles of championing Islam. We want to bring this agenda forward and offer it to the people of Sabah,” he told reporters after officiating the Majlis Ramah Mesra Madani at the Kota Bharu Fishermen’s Association in Kuala Besar today.
Muhammad Faiz expressed hope that the people in the constituency would give their mandate to Amanah in the upcoming state election.
He added that the party is prepared to take on the challenge and help ensure a Pakatan Harapan victory together with other parties in the Unity Government.
“Although there are some differences within the coalition partners of the Unity Government in Sabah — namely Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Barisan Nasional (BN) — I am confident that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be able to unify these efforts.
“What’s most important is that we succeed in forming a government in Sabah after the state election,” he said.
Utusan Malaysia previously reported on October 21 that Amanah is expected to contest only one seat in the upcoming Sabah state election — the Sulabayan state constituency.
Sources revealed that Zulfikar Ab Mijan has been mentioned as the potential candidate for the seat, which is also associated with Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd. Shafie Apdal.
However, this situation has raised questions, as Amanah — representing Pakatan Harapan (PH) — appears set to face off against Warisan, which is also part of the federal-level Unity Government. — Utusan Malaysia
