175 contingents to participate in state-level National Day, Sabah Day parade

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 21): A total of 175 contingents will participate in the state-level National Day and Sabah Day parade this year at Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, on August 31.

The Chief Secretariat of the 2024 National Day and Sabah Day Main Committee, Dayang Selha Ibrahim, said that the participation consisted of federal and state ministries, schools, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and so on.

The participation this year is more than last year which is 125 contingents.

“Many interesting programmes have been planned to enliven the 2024 National Day and Sabah Day which will be celebrated on August 31, including a parade, where there will be surprises for the public.

“Meanwhile, as a special celebration of Sabah Day, we have also planned various programmes for the night of August 31, at Padang Merdeka such as concerts and decorated cars.

“We hope that the celebration of National Day and Sabah Day for the year 2024 will be celebrated with joy, and we welcome the public to attend all programmes throughout the day, to join in the celebration.

“I hope that with a celebration like this we will be able to unite the multi-racial community in Sabah,” she told the media after an interview session at a local radio station, Kupi-Kupi FM with DJ Niz and Felix Agus, today.

Dayang Selha, who is also the Secretary of the Public Agency and Investment Monitoring Division, Sabah State Ministry of Finance (MOF) stated that the ministry has been appointed as the organizer for this year’s celebration, and this is the second time under the MOF.

“This is the second time we have been organising it. We are very grateful for the trust and take up this challenge with enthusiasm,” she said.

Also present were Chief Assistant Director of the Media and Corporate Communications Division of Sabah Information Department, Dr. Diana Dominic and Chief Assistant Director of Sabah JaPen Secretariat Siti Mariam Aziz.
